Forward Air Corp has completed its $125 million acquisition of Towne Air Freight. The deal, announced in early February 2015, combines 2 of the largest companies specializing in transporting cargo to and from U.S. airports. Forward Air estimated that the purchase will add a minimum of  $140 million in revenue the first year and boost profits by 26 percent. Towne Air was founded in 1963 and offers time-sensitive LTL shipping, truckload service, an extensive cartage network, container freight stations and dedicated trucking services.
